Zoran Bahtijarevic

​Born in 1964. in Split, Croatia. Graduated from Medical School Zagreb in 1989. Residency of Pediatric Surgery 1992-1997 in Children's Hospital Zagreb. Board exam in Pediatric Surgery in March 1997. General Secretary of Croatian Society of Pediatric Surgery (CSPS) 2001-2009. President of CSPS since 2014. General Secretary of the 1st World Congress of Pediatric Surgery, Zagreb 2004. Director of Children's Hospital Zagreb since 2015. Member of WOFAPS Executive Committee since January 2017. Also active in sports (football) medicine, Doctor of Croatian national football team since 2002 (team doctor at 2 FIFA World Cups and 4 European Championships). 3rd Vice-President of UEFA Medical Committee and member of UEFA Anti Doping Panel. Fields of special interest: minimally invasive surgery in children, Laparoscopic treatment of Achalasia and GERD, minimally invasive pediatric urology, infravesical obstruction, sports/football medicine, protection of children in sports.

Alp Numanoglu

Professor Numanoglu is the Charles FM Saint Professor and Head of Paediatric Surgery at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital and University of Cape Town. Prof Numanoglu received his undergraduate degree from Ege University in Turkey and specialised in General and Paediatric Surgery in Cape Town, South Africa.

He has a special interest in paediatric surgical skills training, web based surgical education and minimally invasive surgery. He is in charge of Surgical Skills Training Centre in Cape Town. He is involved in developing curriculum for MAS training in South Africa.

He has established a dedicated paediatric colo-rectal unit, joined the colo-rectal outreach programs to African countries and organised international congresses dedicated to management of colo-rectal conditions in resource limited settings.

He is president of South African Association of Paediatric Surgeons, President elect of Pan African Paediatric Surgeons Association and WOFAPS secretary general and treasurer.

Sameh Shehata

Prof Sameh Shehata is working as a professor and past chairman of the pediatric surgery department, faculty of medicine, University of Alexandria, Egypt. He is the past president of the Egyptian association of pediatric surgeons EPSA. Dr. Shehata has a wide international activity in the field of pediatric surgery; he is the President-Elect of the WOFAPS and the President of the IPEG middle east chapter.

Dr. Shehata has given over 150 lectures both nationally and internationally and was invited as a guest lecturer in many national associations congresses. He is the innovator of the technique of laparoscopic traction for the intra-abdominal testis known as Shehata technique that is widely practiced now in many centers worldwide.

Dr. Shehata is the founder of the largest online pediatric surgery forum (The pediatric surgeon’s lounge) where over 1500 pediatric surgeons around the world are discussing and exchanging experience every day. Dr. Shehata is among the editorial board of many national and international pediatric surgery journals including the JPS, PSI and international journal of urology.

David Sigalet

Dr. David Sigalet is Professor and Chair of Surgery at Sidra Medical Center/Weil Cornell Medical in Doha, Qatar. Originally from Canada, he trained at the University of British Columbia, with residency and a PhD in nutrition and intestinal transplantation at the University of Alberta, and Pediatric General Surgery at McGill University, Montreal, He is president of the World Federation of Associations of Pediatric Surgery; his academic interests are in intestinal rehabilitation, chest wall surgery, neonatal surgery, process and systems engineering in medicine, medical education and the development of Pediatric Surgery globally.
