Is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Colorado and Assistant Director of the International Center for Colorectal and Urogenital Care at Children’s Hospital Colorado. She earned her medical degree at University of Brasilia, Brazil. Her general surgery residency and pediatric surgical fellowship were completed at Brasilia University Hospital, Brazil. She did two years of research fellowship followed by another two years of clinical fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. She has published over 40 papers on colorectal pediatric surgery in peer review National and International Journals. She has been a lecturer and visiting professor giving Courses in more than 20 different Countries.

Andrew Davidoff

Dr. Davidoff is a Full Member and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and holds the St. Jude Endowed Chair in Surgical Research. He also has adjunct appointments in Surgery, Pediatrics and Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the University of Tennessee School of Medicine. Dr. Davidoff joined the St. Jude faculty in 1997 after completing fellowship training in general and thoracic pediatric surgery at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Davidoff’s academic activities at St. Jude are focused primarily on clinical and translational investigation into the treatment of pediatric solid tumors, neuroblastoma and bilateral Wilms tumor, in particular. His specific research interests are in anti-angiogenic cancer therapy and gene therapy for cancer and monogenetic disorders, particularly hemophilia.

Alp Numanoglu

Professor Numanoglu is the Charles FM Saint Professor and Head of Paediatric Surgery at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital and University of Cape Town. Prof Numanoglu received his undergraduate degree from Ege University in Turkey and specialised in General and Paediatric Surgery in Cape Town, South Africa.

He has a special interest in paediatric surgical skills training, web based surgical education and minimally invasive surgery. He is in charge of Surgical Skills Training Centre in Cape Town. He is involved in developing curriculum for MAS training in South Africa.

He has established a dedicated paediatric colo-rectal unit, joined the colo-rectal outreach programs to African countries and organised international congresses dedicated to management of colo-rectal conditions in resource limited settings.

He is president of South African Association of Paediatric Surgeons, President elect of Pan African Paediatric Surgeons Association and WOFAPS secretary general and treasurer.

José Peiró Ibáñez

Prof. Jose L. Peiró completed his medical education at Autonoma University of Barcelona (UAB), in Barcelona (Spain). His pediatric surgery training was at the Vall d’Hebron Universitari Hospital in Barcelona, where he started to work as attending. Dr. Peiró began in 2002 a pioneer European clinical fetal surgery program in Barcelona and also a new Laboratory for translational research in congenital malformations at the Research Institute Vall d’Hebron (VHIR). In 2013 he was recruited as Endoscopic Fetal Surgery Director of the Cincinnati Fetal Center. Presently he maintains an active clinical practice in pediatric, neonatal, and mainly fetal surgery, treating prenatally several fetal conditions at CCHMC. In other hand, he is coordinating research in different lines of fetal surgery in his Laboratory at the Center for Cellular & Molecular Fetal Therapy in Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

Alberto Peña

Dr. ALBERTO PEñA was born and raised in Mexico City. Studied medicine at the Military Medical School in Mexico (finished 1962) and trained in General Surgery at the Military Hospital (1962-1966)and Medical Pediatrics (1967-1968). Continued his training in pediatric Surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital Medical Center, (1969-1971) From 1972 to 1985 he was Surgeon –in-Chief and Director of the National Institute of Pediatrics in Mexico City . Subsequently he become Chief of Surgery at Schneider Children’s Hospital, Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Long Island, New York, from 1985 to 2005. He then created and directed the first Pediatric Colorectal Center of the world, at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, where he remained until January 2015. Since that time until now, he has been the Director of the International Center for Colorectal and Urogenital Care at Children’s Hospital Colorado. He is also Professor of Surgery at the University of Colorado. Dr. Peña is well known all over the world, because of his contribution in the management of anorectal malformations. He published over 200 papers in peer-review international journals, over 80 book chapters and five text books.

David Sigalet

Dr. David Sigalet is Professor and Chair of Surgery at Sidra Medical Center/Weil Cornell Medical in Doha, Qatar. Originally from Canada, he trained at the University of British Columbia, with residency and a PhD in nutrition and intestinal transplantation at the University of Alberta, and Pediatric General Surgery at McGill University, Montreal, He is president of the World Federation of Associations of Pediatric Surgery; his academic interests are in intestinal rehabilitation, chest wall surgery, neonatal surgery, process and systems engineering in medicine, medical education and the development of Pediatric Surgery globally.
